Sketching at Fell Foot, Cumbria

Had yet another brilliant day at Fell Foot. It is well managed by the National Trust, who have a booking system in place during these odd times of a Pandemic. Those without tickets are turned back if caught, and although you will still get people who don’t feel the need to social distance, if like us you do, the control of those attending makes that more than possible. The booking system for Fell Foot is working for us, as we have been a couple of times in the last few weeks, normally we visit here out of holiday season as it gets too crowded for sketching. Maybe the booking system will catch on and it will remain in the future.

It was intended our visit was mainly to sketch some of the Fauna and Flora, but the dog felt enough was enough after an hour or so, it was her day out too and she was having none of it, no matter how hot. Lets face it what do humans know, she was well aware of the heat and could cool off by taking a dip in the lake, but she must insist on a game or two of ball! So at her insistence we didn’t get the sketching done we would have liked, but we did get some photos and a couple of sketches, though in the main it was a time to reflect on mark making, beautiful scenery and relaxing in the sunshine. Across the lake the pretty little train blowing its whistle, give the area a nostalgic feel, and a reminder of the areas past history. Fell Foot, is well worth a visit.
